"Sandcreek Arch Project"
In the summer of 2011 Nelson designed, constructed, and installed a forty foot arch over Main Street in historic Sandpoint, Idaho. The arch consists of 95 trout constructed of recycled highway signs. The fish are hinged so as to sway in a breeze giving an illusion of motion.

I worked closely with George Lucas to create this new character for his book STAR WARS VISIONS. As a cowboy artist, I was intrigued with the challenge of creating a character that embodied the texture of the Old West, combined with an outlaw attitude, in a Star Wars setting. The maverick bounty hunter is garbed in rough leather chaps, wild spurs, worn-out leather boots, and rusty weapon shin guards. Juxtaposed against his traditional weather-beaten cowboy gear is a shining chrome lightsaber. When I asked George Lucas how this bounty hunter ended up with a lightsaber, he responded: “He obviously destroyed a Jedi warrior.”
